Goals and Challenges For The Year 2017

February 26, 2017

As much as it is important to look back at the year you just had to see what was accomplished it’s also important to look at the year ahead of you and see what still needs to be done. I have a vision of running a successful blog, one that people will enjoy coming to and finding awe inspiring posts and methods that will help them realize their dreams. In order for me to make that vision a reality I’m going to need to set up a variety of goals and challenges for me to overcome to make this a dream come true. Sitting around and dreaming all day won’t result in it becoming a reality.

I’ve constructed a list of goals both blogging and personal goals that I would like to accomplish this year in order to help me realize my vision. These are the steps that will send me well off my way this year to being one step closer to my vision, so here they are!

Blog Goals

Doing touristic things in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

1. Post 2 times a week on both my blogging website and my Instagram. As you guys know I have been slacking on this big time – well, that needs to change. If I want to gain and expand an audience to inspire and teach how to pursue their destiny, I’m going to need to be more active on my social media platforms. Of course, I’m not going to be posting bullshit posts for the sake of just posting content on my blogs. I want to make posts that the audience can engage in and feel inspired/motivated to take life into their own hands. If that means only putting out one post one week then so be it but I still will strive to accomplish producing two posts a week. I will write for future post beforehand, save them on my draft page and build up and inventory of thoughtfully inspired posts that I will deploy in the future.

2. Gaining exposure on my blog and Instagram. As of now I virtually have zero exposure on my blog, no one probably even knows it even exists besides the few friends I told about it. The being said, it looks like it’s time for me to get my brand out there and writing posts alone isn’t going to help me attract an audience. Writing a guest post is one easy way to get my name out there – I’ll try networking and making friends with other bloggers. I’ll return the favor especially when my audience count flies upwards so no one is guest posting on my empty blog.
Instagram is my most engage and strongest social media platform. I’ll use that to start leveraging my followers on their to help get my view counts up in my blog. My Instagram followers love my Instagram feed so it’ll be awesome for them to see my blog. I’ll get to inspire them and motivate them to go after their dreams, plus it’ll help them to get to know me even better as well me getting to know them through the comment section. Each time I produce a new post I will share it on my Instagram as well as my Twitter (which I seriously need to start using again!).

3. Write an E-book. This is something that I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always wanted to teach and help people after I learned and mastered useful skills that can help someone in improving their life. They have to do with traveling, life-improvement and climbing the corporate ladder. I also have knowledge that can help people with Asperger socialize better and navigate through the weird world of modern day society. I’ve held these information in my brain for so long and now it’s time to share it so I can make a difference in people’s life. By the end of the year, I want to produce at least one of these E-books. I will start by jotting down notes, tips, examples and training exercise until I’ve written down enough information to start a draft for the book. From there I’ll structure and clean it all up until it’s a commodity worth sending out to my loyal readers.
4. Create a YouTube and start Vlogging. That’s right you heard it, I’m going to be a YouTube superstar! Just kidding, but I will start making videos though. The content will be exactly as my blog, whatever was difficult and challenging to express with words will be expressed with my voice. The beauty of this is, that you will get to see my personality and see how I really am (plus you get to hear my sexy ass voice and watch my cute face!). I plan on scripting and writing out ideas about what I want to talk about in my journal, then afterward look for an ideal place for me to shoot with my GoPro. I’ll shoot every week just me randomly talking so that I can get use to being on camera and make short videos until I’m comfortable with filming and making videos. From there I’ll start shooting my very first vlog video and upload it on YouTube.  I’m excited about this and can’t wait to share with you guys!

Personal Goals

Looking out in the distance in Mai Cau, Vietnam.

1. Start Freelancing. I was meaning to do this last year but got side-tracked and distracted. This year I will be changing that. With accounts already created in UpWork, Freelancer, and PeoplePerHour, I will be submitting a mass collections of proposals to as many clients as I can – one of them surely has to accept me! Starting small, I’ll of course start with entry-level jobs that pay little to nothing (good thing I’m in SouthEast Asia) and work my way up. In turn as the year steadily progresses I will start to make a decent amount of change by working intermediate jobs.
2. Need to get in shape again. It’s been 9 consecutive months since I’ve worked out –  it’s as long as I’ve been traveling – and as a result, I’ve lost all my gains from the previous year (talk about a waste of effort). Even though I’ll be traveling and won’t have access to gyms majority of the time I will still find a way to get and stay in shape. That means doing push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups (a lot of ups!) in my rooms. Getting creative is going to be the key factor for this challenge. For example, if I want to work out my biceps I can fill my backpack up to add weight and then curl it, then afterward have it spread across my shoulder and do squats, ridiculous but you get the idea!

Just me taking a selfie with my new found friend.

3. Learning how to use Adobe Photoshop as well as Illustrator. After Learning how to use Premier Pro and LightRoom it’s time to up my game, especially with what I want to do and if I want to make an online business.  Furthermore, this will also add to my skill set letting me be able to find more clients that I can freelance with earning me more cash that I can save and invest in (cha-ching!). Whenever there is free time available I will be watching YouTube tutorials and afterward practicing what I just learn. If I stay consistence with this I should be able to manage the basics within a couple of weeks time. By the end of the year, I want to be so comfortable with this that I can create a new logo for my blog, as well as be able to make images with designs and pictures engraved on them that I can use to inspire my followers on Instagram. Nothing on a professional level though but I do want to be able to create something decent using these platforms.
So there you have it, the goals and challenges I have set out for myself to make my dream a reality. It’s important to have dreams and visions for yourself, but if you have no set actions to turn them into something real then they’ll stay just that – nothing but a dream.
So what steps will you take in order to make your dream a reality?
